DIAMONDS
We should never forget that diamonds are a product of nature
Their origins deep within the Earths crust under intense pressure over billions of years means that when we hold a natural diamond we have a genuine fossil of untold age condensed into a beautiful gemstone
Owning a significant diamond is the ultimate in luxury.
You own something of true rarity that is unique in the world. It is a valuable asset that will last forever. Long after we have left this earth, that stone will remain.
Diamonds are truly forever
HOW LONG IS A PIECE OF STRING?
The size of diamonds and gemstones are determined by nature itself so its impossible to say definitely what diamonds or gemstones sizes can be had. In general terms one can offer a range of typical sizes and for our purposes here we can stick to gemstone quality stones.
Diamonds have a tremendous range of sizes. One of the largest diamonds found was 3106 carats in the rough. It was eventually cut into 105 stones, the largest was a 530.4 carat stone called the Cullinan.
The second stone of 317.40 carats is called the Cullinan II and both are part of the British Crown jewels. While stones like this are entirely unique, many stones of considerable size and quality have been discovered in recent decades thanks to advances in mining techniques and geological exploration.
The most commonly traded diamond is probably a G colour one carat diamond in SI quality. One carat seems to be the size of choice for engagement rings. This can be found in limitless quantities, in every jewellers safe, on the internet. But once you move up to 2 or 3 carats and larger the stones become quite scarce. And even rarer still are the stones in D or E colour with clarities of VS or higher. Most jewellers will not stock such large stones and depend on diamond dealers to source them. Unfortunately thanks to the rarity of top quality gems of this size, clients may have to compromise on size, colour or clarity, simply to purchase something in a larger size.
More and more clients who are interested in this type of gem are better educated and looking for top quality stones which are not normally available in the Australian market so Sarusi was born to service the top end of the market.
